About calcs.homes
What this is
calcs.homes is a free set of calculators for building, remodeling, and maintaining a home — concrete and gravel volumes, square footage, framing and decking, pool sizing and chemistry, electrical loads, HVAC sizing, paint and flooring quantities, and more. We built it because so many calculators online bury a simple estimate under pop-ups, walls of ad copy, or vague "trust us" math with no explanation of where the numbers come from.
Every tool here shows its work: the formula behind the result, the assumptions it makes, and its real-world limits — because a material estimate is a starting point for a quote, not a guarantee, and we'd rather you understand it than just believe it.
How the calculators are built
The math behind each tool uses standard construction and trade formulas — volume geometry for concrete and fill, bag-yield figures from manufacturer data, span and spacing tables from common building practice, and published guidance for electrical load and HVAC sizing. Each calculator page explains the method so you can check it yourself or bring it to your contractor or supplier.
Nothing on this site is professional engineering, electrical, or code advice, and none of it replaces a licensed pro pulling permits for your project — it's here to help you scope materials and cost before and after that conversation.

Spotted a bug, a confusing result, or a calculator you wish existed? We read every message — corrections especially, since accuracy is the entire point of this site.
Helpful things to include: the calculator you were using (a link is ideal), the numbers you entered and the result you expected, and your browser and device if something looked broken.
