How TV mount height is calculated

The center of the screen should land at your seated eye level for a comfortable, straight-ahead viewing angle. We calculate screen height from the diagonal using the standard 16:9 aspect ratio, then split that height evenly above and below your eye-level center point to get the top and bottom mounting edges.

Frequently asked questions

Center the screen at your seated eye height — commonly around 42 in (107 cm) from the floor for a standard sofa, though this varies with your specific seating. Enter your own eye height above for a tailored answer.

Mounting above eye level is common over a fireplace but causes neck strain during long viewing — a tilting or full-motion mount that angles the screen down can help compensate.
