For an in-ground pool with a sloped floor, average depth is the shallow-end depth plus the deep-end depth, divided by two. Multiply length × width × average depth × 7.5 to get gallons. Above-ground pools use manufacturer-published capacity figures for standard round and oval sizes, since their wall shape isn't a simple rectangle.
