We add the waste allowance to the room area, divide by the coverage one box provides, and round up — you can only buy whole boxes. Total coverage is the boxes multiplied back out, so you can see the small surplus you will have on hand.

Long diagonal runs, lots of doorways, or a plank pattern with a strict stagger push waste toward 10–15%.
