How cubic yard coverage works

Multiply length × width × depth to get cubic feet, then divide by 27 (the number of cubic feet in a cubic yard). As a rule of thumb, one cubic yard covers about 100 square feet at 3 inches deep, 162 square feet at 2 inches deep, or 324 square feet at 1 inch deep.
